Palantir Technologies (PLTR) — the future bets

Allied governments are buying Palantir to gain independence in AI, a demand that grew 42% in a quarter and that any election can reverse.

Palantir's international bet is on governments, not companies. International government revenue grew 42% to $181 million in the second quarter of 2026, while international commercial grew 26% to $182 million1. For the full year 2025 the government side grew about 47% and the commercial side 2.5%2.

Government abroad grew faster than commerce abroad.

Management frames the demand as a question of national control. Alex Karp: "Demand for AI sovereignty has now been unleashed."3 States that want their own capability, rather than relying on foreign services, are buying the platform to run on their own terms.

The base is small. Revenue from outside the United States was about $362.5 million in the second quarter of 2026, about 19% of the total4, against about $271.7 million a year earlier5. The United Kingdom, Palantir's largest foreign market, was $427.4 million in 20256.

The bet carries political risk in both directions. A foreign government buying American software to achieve sovereignty is making a choice its successors can reverse, and Palantir says it will not work with customers whose activities conflict with its values7.

International revenue growth is the test. Growth of about a third in the second quarter8 would have to hold for two more years before sovereignty demand could offset any slowdown at home; a return to single-digit growth would mean it was a moment rather than a market.
