Taiwan: Up 71% in a YearNarrow moat
Applied Materials (AMAT) — moat facet
Applied's revenue from Taiwan rose 71% in one year as the leading-edge logic build took off.
The fastest-growing market for Applied in fiscal 2025 was Taiwan. Revenue from Taiwan was $6,857 million, up from $4,010 million in 20241, a rise of 71%2. It was 22% of revenue in the quarter to July 2026, $2,025 million3.
Taiwan is home to TSMC, which Applied named as a customer taking 20% of its revenue in fiscal 2022 and 11% in 20244. Foundry and logic took 67% of Applied's systems revenue in fiscal 20255.
The rise in Taiwan is one reason the concentration of Applied's customers rose. When one country's chipmakers build, the largest customer there grows fastest.
The quarter to July showed the share steadying: Taiwan was 22% against 25% a year earlier6, as other regions grew faster.
Taiwan's share over the first nine months of fiscal 2026 was 25%, $5,902 million7, making it the second-largest market after China, whose lead over those nine months was $786 million8.
Taiwan's growth also changes Applied's political exposure. Revenue from Taiwan is not subject to the export rules that apply to China, so a shift from China to Taiwan lowers one kind of risk. It raises another: Applied's two largest markets, China and Taiwan, took about 52% of nine-month revenue9.
Taiwan carries its own risks, which this app discusses on TSMC's pages. For Applied the figure to follow is Taiwan's share of revenue; a fall below a fifth while the leading-edge build continues would mean Applied is losing steps there.
Taiwan 22% of revenue in Q3 FY2026 against 25% a year earlier.
Exposure to leading-edge logic; a share below a fifth during the build would mean lost steps.
