⚠ Growth Without the AcquisitionsHigh threat
Palo Alto Networks (PANW) — threat to the moat
Without CyberArk and Chronosphere, Palo Alto's revenue grew about 14% in fiscal 2026 and about 13% in the fourth quarter.
Palo Alto's reported growth flatters its underlying pace. Revenue rose about 24.5% in fiscal 2026, to $11,480 million12. But CyberArk and Chronosphere contributed $930 million after closing3. Without them revenue grew about 14.4%4.
The fourth quarter shows the same thing. Revenue grew 34% to $3,410 million5; the two acquisitions contributed about $542 million in the quarter6, and without them growth was about 13%7.
The guidance continues the pattern. Palo Alto expects fiscal 2027 revenue growth of 23% to 24%8, but against pro forma fiscal 2026 revenue of $12,312 million9, the guidance implies about 15%10. And the largest platform, Network & AI Security, is guided to low double-digit growth11.
Growth of about 14% is respectable for a company of this size. It is also close to the 14.9% of fiscal 202512 and well below the 25% or more of the years before 202413. Platformization and the acquisitions have kept the headline high while the organic pace settled.
The pro forma figures tell the same story from another angle. Had both deals closed at the start of fiscal 2025, revenue would have been $10,486 million in fiscal 2025 and $12,312 million in fiscal 202614, growth of about 17.4%15. That includes CyberArk's own growth, which was faster than Palo Alto's organic pace.
The first quarter of fiscal 2027 will still include both acquisitions in only one of the two periods. Revenue is guided to $3.300 billion to $3.310 billion, growth of 33% to 34%16, against a quarter a year earlier that had neither CyberArk nor Chronosphere. The organic rate will only be visible cleanly from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027.
The market price in the other root threat assumes something faster. The organic growth rate, about 13% in the fourth quarter17, is the number that matters; if it stays near 13% once the acquisitions lap in fiscal 2027, the company is a mid-teens grower priced as a much faster one.
The underlying pace; staying near 13% after the acquisitions lap would make this a mid-teens grower.
