Twenty-Two Years of Dividend IncreasesWide moat

Analog Devices (ADI) — moat facet

ADI has raised its dividend for 22 straight years, to $1.10 a quarter in 2026, and kept raising it through a fiscal 2024 when it paid out more than it reported in earnings.

ADI's dividend is the most visible promise it makes to its owners, and it has kept it through two large acquisitions and a downturn. In February 2026 the board raised the quarterly dividend "by 11% to $1.10 per outstanding share of common stock, marking 22 consecutive years of higher dividends"1. The chief executive added that since the start of the capital return programme "we have returned more than $32 billion to shareholders via dividends and share repurchases"2.

The payment more than doubled in ten years.

Dividends paid per share went from $1.57 in fiscal 2015 to $3.89 in fiscal 20253, a compound rise of about 9.5% a year4. Total dividends were $1,924.4 million in fiscal 20255. At $395.43 a share and a $4.40 annual rate, the yield is 1.11%6.

The dividend kept rising in fiscal 2024, when revenue fell 23.4%7 and diluted EPS fell to $3.288; that year ADI paid $3.62 a share9, more than it earned. The company could do that because cash flow, not reported earnings, funds the payment, and free cash flow was $3,122.0 million10 against dividends of $1,795.5 million11.

The dividend is also a discipline. A board that has raised it for 22 years will be reluctant to stop, and that reluctance limits how much it can borrow for deals or spend at the wrong point in the cycle.

The dividend is safe as long as free cash flow covers it comfortably. If dividends paid exceed 60% of free cash flow for a full year, the record will be resting on the balance sheet rather than on the business.

Moat trajectory: Holding steady

Quarterly dividend raised 11% to $1.10 in February 2026.

The number that tests this moat
Reported
Quarterly dividend per share
$1.10 (declared for Q3 FY2026, paid 15 September 2026), after an 11% raise in February 2026

The promise to owners; a raise below 5% or a pause would say the board sees less room in free cash flow.
