The Revenue LinesWide moat

CrowdStrike (CRWD) — moat facet

Subscriptions are 95% of CrowdStrike's revenue and about 99% of its gross profit; services mostly exist to install the sensor.

CrowdStrike reports one segment and two revenue lines, and they could hardly be more different. Subscription revenue was $4,564.7 million in fiscal 2026 and professional services $247.3 million, 95% and 5% of revenue1. The two reconcile exactly to total revenue of $4,812.0 million2.

Gross profit by revenue line, fiscal 2026 ($M)Subscription — 99%Professional services — 1%Calculated from CrowdStrike Q4 FY2026 results release
Services are a rounding error in gross profit.

The profit is even more lopsided than the revenue. Subscription gross profit was about $3,548.8 million and services gross profit about $44.3 million3, so services contributed about 1.2% of gross profit4. CrowdStrike reports no operating profit by line.

The mix has moved one way. Subscriptions were about 78% of revenue in fiscal 201856 and have been 95% since fiscal 20257. Subscription revenue compounded at about 62.8% a year over those eight years and services at about 32.4%8.

A different split, by geography, is covered on the Major Clients pages: the United States supplied 67% of fiscal 2026 revenue9.

The two lines are recognised differently. Subscription revenue is recognised ratably over the contract term, while professional services revenue is recognised as the work is performed10, which is why services move with hours billed and subscriptions move with the contracts signed in earlier periods.

The subscription share is the figure that shows whether the model is changing. At 95% it leaves little room to rise; a fall of more than a point or two would mean CrowdStrike is leaning on services work, perhaps as a concession to customers, to keep revenue growing.
