Asia: Revenue Up 46% in Two YearsNarrow moat

Morgan Stanley (MS) — moat facet

Morgan Stanley's Asian revenue rose 46% in two years and 71% in the latest quarter, built on equities and a Japanese partner.

Asia is Morgan Stanley's fastest-growing region. Net revenues there were $6,434 million in 2023, $7,635 million in 2024 and $9,420 million in 20251, up about 46% in two years2. In the second quarter of 2026 Asia revenue was $3,930 million, up 71% from a year earlier3.

Net revenues by region, 2025 ($M)52,897Americas9,420Asia8,328EMEAMorgan Stanley Form 10-K FY2025, note 22
Asia now earns more than EMEA.

The Americas still dominate at $52,897 million in 2025, about 75% of the total45. But Asia now contributes about 13%6, and the firm said in January 2026 that Asia revenue had grown about 50% since 20237.

The region's strength runs through the equity desk: the second-quarter record in equities came "with notable strength in Asia"8. It also runs through Japan, where Morgan Stanley and MUFG own a securities joint venture; income from it is booked in Institutional Securities9. The partnership is described on the MUFG page.

Growth this fast in a region is partly a cycle. Asian equity markets were strong in 2025 and 2026, and a trading business follows its markets.

EMEA grew too, though more slowly: net revenues there were $6,058 million in 2023, $7,197 million in 2024 and $8,328 million in 202510. In the second quarter of 2026 EMEA revenue was $2,372 million11. The firm puts EMEA growth since 2023 at about 40% and Asia's at about 50%12.

The region's share of firm revenue will settle the question. It was about 12% in 202313; holding above 13% through a weak year for Asian markets would say the build-out was structural, and a slide back to 12% would say the recent surge was mainly the market.

Moat trajectory: Widening

Asia revenue $6.4bn (2023) to $9.4bn (2025); +71% in Q2 2026.

Reported
Asia net revenues, latest quarter
$3,930M (Q2 2026), up 71% year on year

The fastest-growing region; a sharp fall in a weak Asian market would show how cyclical the build-out is.
