No Client Worth NamingWide moat

Morgan Stanley (MS) — moat facet

No Morgan Stanley client is large enough to matter alone, but three-quarters of its revenue comes from one region.

The absence of a customer-concentration disclosure is the strongest client fact Morgan Stanley has. No customer appears in its annual report as a material share of revenue1. The wealth business alone spans advisor-led, self-directed and workplace channels, with $7,381 billion of client assets at the end of 20252.

Net revenues by region, Q2 2026 ($M)Americas 15,046 — 70%Asia 3,930 — 18%EMEA 2,372 — 11%Morgan Stanley Q2 2026 financial supplement
Diverse by client, concentrated by country.

That breadth is protection. The loss of any single client, even a large institution, would not show in the firm's $70,645 million of 2025 net revenues3.

The concentration is geographic instead. The Americas produced $52,897 million of 2025 net revenues, about 75%45. The firm describes its Wealth Management segment as "primarily in the U.S."6. In the second quarter of 2026 the Americas share fell to about 70%, as Asia revenue rose 71%78.

Being diversified by name but concentrated by country means a downturn in American markets reaches almost every client at once. That is a different risk from losing a customer, and it is the one that matters here.

The wealth business describes its clients by type, not by name: individual investors, including high and ultra-high net worth individuals, and businesses and institutions9. The firm's net revenues of $70,645 million in 202510 came from millions of relationships rather than a handful of accounts.

Watch the Americas share. A share that settled near 70% would make the client base genuinely more diverse; a return to three-quarters would show the Asian surge was a season.

Concentration by country rather than client; a return to three-quarters would show the Asian surge was temporary.
