The Revenue LinesWide moat
AbbVie (ABBV) — moat facet
Half of AbbVie's revenue is immunology and another sixth is neuroscience; the rest is flat or shrinking.
AbbVie reports one operating segment1 and discloses revenue by product. Grouped into therapeutic areas, its 2025 net revenues of $61,160 million2 were: immunology $30,406 million, neuroscience $10,767 million, oncology $6,655 million, aesthetics $4,860 million, and eye care and other products $8,472 million3.
The last band combines three of the 10-K's groups, eye care, other key products and all other revenue4, because they are small and all declining; from 2026 AbbVie itself folds eye care into all other5. The chart in this app shows the five bands for 2022 to 2025, and they reconcile exactly to reported net revenues.
The lines move in different directions. Immunology grew about 14% in 2025 and neuroscience about 20%6; oncology was flat, and aesthetics and the other products shrank7. In the second quarter of 2026 immunology grew 15.1%, neuroscience 20.3%, aesthetics 0.3% and oncology fell 1.5%8.
Profit by line is not disclosed. AbbVie's adjusted gross margin was 84.7% in the second quarter of 20269.
The mix has changed quickly. In 2022 immunology was about half of revenue and almost all of it was Humira; in 2025 immunology was still about half, and Humira was less than a sixth of it1011. Management's 2026 assumptions put immunology at about $34.5 billion, neuroscience at $12.5 billion, oncology at $6.5 billion and aesthetics at $5 billion12, so the shape of the company is expected to tilt further toward its two growing areas.
The lines describe a company whose growth rests on two areas. The share of revenue from immunology and neuroscience, about 67% in 202513, is the figure to follow: rising further means AbbVie is more dependent on Skyrizi, Rinvoq and the Allergan brain drugs, and more exposed to their patent and pricing dates.
Immunology and neuroscience growing; the others flat or falling.
Dependence on the two growing areas; a rising share concentrates exposure to their patent and pricing dates.
