✦ Skyrizi and Rinvoq Past $31 BillionWide moat
AbbVie (ABBV) — the future bets
AbbVie expects Skyrizi and Rinvoq to beat their 2027 sales target a year early, which makes them more valuable and the 2033 cliff steeper.
The most important future bet is the one AbbVie already owns. In January 2025 it said it expected Skyrizi and Rinvoq to reach more than $31 billion of combined revenue in 2027, with Skyrizi above $20 billion and Rinvoq above $11 billion1. Its 2026 assumptions, given in February 2026, were Skyrizi at $21.5 billion and Rinvoq at $10.1 billion2, about $31.6 billion a year early3.
The first half of 2026 supports the plan. Skyrizi and Rinvoq together sold $14,632 million45, and both grew about 24% in the second quarter6.
The further the franchise grows before 2033, the more valuable AbbVie is for the next seven years and the larger the eventual cliff. Its patents are expected to expire in 2033, with Rinvoq's generic entry settled for no earlier than April 20377.
The company expects high single-digit compound revenue growth through 20298; most of that depends on these two drugs.
The growth has consistently exceeded AbbVie's own targets. In January 2025 it raised its 2027 expectation for the two drugs from more than $27 billion to more than $31 billion9, and a year later its 2026 assumptions already exceeded the new figure10. A franchise that keeps beating its owner's forecasts is the clearest sign the moat is working.
The combined total for 2026 is the figure to watch. Beating $31.6 billion would mean the franchise is still accelerating; missing it would suggest the peak is nearer than planned.
H1 2026 sales $14.6bn; both growing about 24%.
The franchise against its $31.6bn 2026 plan; beating it would mean it is still accelerating.
