Two Point Eight Million, and Not One That MattersWide moat
XTB (XTB) — moat facet
Diversified across 2,8 million names and concentrated in about a dozen instruments and one behaviour.
The most common single risk in this collection is a customer large enough to name. XTB does not have one. Its client base went from 149 300 at the end of 2019 to 2 164 900 at the end of 2025 and 2 825 700 six months later, of whom 1 489 872 were active in the first half of 2026, and no individual account is material to anything.1
That is worth having. It means no annual renegotiation, no contract renewal that could go the other way, no single decision by a procurement department that removes a fifth of revenue. Losing any thousand clients is a rounding error, and the acquisition machine replaces them within a day.
The qualification is that name diversification and risk diversification are different things, and this is a business where they diverge unusually far. Retail clients crowd. They trade gold when gold is in the news and American indices when the index is, in the same direction, at the same time, because they are reading the same headlines. In the first half of 2026, 75,3 per cent of gross gain came from commodity contracts against 33,1 a year earlier — not because XTB changed anything, but because two and a half million people all decided to trade the same thing.2
So the customer base is diversified across two and a half million names and concentrated in about a dozen instruments and one behaviour.
Watch the share of gross gain coming from the single largest instrument class. Across three consecutive half-years it has been 46 per cent, 33 and 75.3
The base grew from 2 164 900 to 2 825 700 in six months and active clients from 1 189 397 to 1 489 872. Every additional account makes the absence of concentration more robust, whatever it does to revenue per head.
Commodity contracts produced 75,3 per cent of gross gain in the first half of 2026 against 33,1 per cent a year earlier, while indices fell from 46,3 per cent to 13,9. Nothing XTB did caused that: two and a half million people decided to trade the same thing. The client base is diversified across 2 825 700 names and concentrated in about a dozen instruments and one behaviour.
