Synektik's Polish growth rests on three reimbursed cancers, and the list has not grown since 2023.

Polish robotic surgery grew on one decision. From 1 April 2022 the Ministry of Health introduced dedicated reimbursement for robotic radical prostatectomy1, priced at twice the laparoscopic or open operation2; within three months 17 hospitals had registered to bill for it3. From 1 August 2023 endometrial and colorectal cancer were added4.

Five times in two years, on three indications.

The spending followed. The NFZ paid for 2 100 robotic operations and 59 million złoty in 2022, 5 400 and 167 million złoty in 20235, and about 300 million złoty on nearly 11 000 operations in 20246. Those are the procedures that consume Synektik's instruments.

The list has not grown since 2023. Only prostate, colorectal and uterine cancer are reimbursed, and robotic operations for other cancers still wait for public funding7. A public hospital does not buy a robot, or run it hard, for procedures it cannot bill at the higher tariff.

The rest of the robot's range is waiting. A da Vinci can be used for pancreas, liver, bile-duct and stomach cancers, but the NFZ does not reimburse those operations and it is unclear when it will8. The agency for health technology assessment recommended funding robotic operations in 2017 and patients waited five years for the recommendation to be implemented9.

Without new indications, Polish procedure growth, 35% in the April-June 2026 quarter10, will keep slowing as the reimbursed conditions approach full robotic coverage. A fourth reimbursed cancer is the event that would reset it.
