Lifestyle is the food and retail business: Summit supermarkets, earning ¥7.5 billion; Fyffes, the banana and pineapple business, a loss of ¥4.1 billion; Highline mushrooms, a loss of ¥9.4 billion; and domestic drugstores and pharmacies, ¥3.1 billion3. The latest year's loss came from exiting the melon business, about ¥5 billion, and impairing the mushroom business, about ¥9 billion4. Its revenue was ¥1,073.3 billion5, and its return on invested capital 1%6.

The corporate line holds items not allocated to segments. In the first quarter of the current year it earned ¥28.0 billion, including a currency gain of about ¥16 billion7.

Smaller Lifestyle businesses are steady: Feiler Japan contributed ¥3.1 billion, SC Foods ¥3.1 billion and Wellneo Sugar, 24.86% owned, ¥1.6 billion8. Lifestyle's underlying profit was ¥10.0 billion in the latest year9, which shows the business before the exit charges.
