The small size limits the damage. Commercial Aviation's underlying profit of ¥19.7 billion3 includes all three businesses.

Engine leasing is older, dating from 20044, and ranks fifth in the world excluding manufacturers5. The manufacturers themselves lease engines, which is why the company's ranking excludes them.

The measure is the helicopter business's rank. Holding second place through the next downturn in offshore energy would show the fleet's utilisation held.
