Datacenter: $325 Million to $5.2 BillionNarrow moat

Sandisk (SNDK) — moat facet

Datacenter went from $325 million to $5.2 billion in two years — and it is the one part of the company where the consumer brand is worth precisely nothing.

Datacenter went from $325 million to $5,153 million in two years, and it is now the reason to own this company.

Datacenter revenue, three years ($M)$325MFY2024$960MFY2025$5,153MFY2026$2,977MQ4 FY2026 aloneFY2026 +437%. Exabytes almost doubled and revenue per gigabyte rose almost 150%.
The only segment where volume moved as much as price — and the one place the consumer brand is worth nothing.

The series: $325 million in fiscal 2024, $960 million in 2025, $5,153 million in 2026 — up 437% in the final year alone.1 In the June quarter it reached $2,977 million against $213 million a year earlier. Underneath the revenue, exabytes shipped into Datacenter rose by almost 120% and revenue per gigabyte by almost 150%.2 This is the one segment where both volume and price roughly doubled.

The buyers are cloud service providers and enterprises building AI infrastructure, and Sandisk sells them enterprise SSDs — high-performance flash-based drives with the company's own controllers and firmware on jointly-developed flash. The company's stated position is that AI adoption is driving the need for NAND storage to support inference workloads, and that it expects the demand to persist through calendar 2027 and beyond.3

Two things make this the least protected part of the business. First, it is where the New Business Model concentration is being built, so the diversification that characterises Sandisk's history does not apply here. Second, and more fundamentally, an enterprise SSD sold to a hyperscaler is bought on benchmarks and price per terabyte by a procurement function running qualification cycles — the consumer brand is worth nothing in this room, and neither is thirty years of retail heritage.

Rated narrow. Real, fast, and won on merit against Samsung, SK hynix, Kioxia and Micron on every deal.

Watch Datacenter exabytes rather than revenue. Volume is demand; the rest is price.

Moat trajectory: Widening

Datacenter revenue went $325 million, $960 million, $5,153 million across three years — up 437% in the last one — with exabytes almost doubling rather than price alone doing the work.

Up 437% in fiscal 2026 alone, and the only segment where volume moved as much as price: exabytes shipped rose almost 120% and revenue per gigabyte almost 150%. It is now 25% of the company from 5%. It is also the least protected part of the business — an enterprise SSD is bought on benchmarks and price per terabyte by a procurement function, where thirty years of consumer brand is worth nothing. Watch Datacenter exabytes rather than revenue.
