Cash That Exceeds ProfitNarrow moat
Text (TXT) — moat facet
161,6 million złoty collected against 116,6 million earned - the accounting understates the collection.
Text collected 161,6 million złoty from operations in the year to March 2026 while reporting 116,6 million of net profit1. The 39% gap is what a prepaid subscription business looks like when the accounting catches up more slowly than the bank account.
Two items produce it. Depreciation and amortisation of 26,4 million złoty2 is a non-cash charge against capitalised development work — Text carried 82,8 million złoty of intangible assets at the March date3 — and the movement in customer prepayments supplies the rest.
The pattern is durable rather than a one-year artefact. Operating cash flow was 179,5 million złoty in 2025 and 177,6 million in 20244, and in the June 2026 quarter it rose 22,2% year on year to 41,5 million even as net profit fell 6,2%5.
Against that, the company spends steadily on building the product: 32,4 million złoty on intangible and tangible assets in the year6, roughly a fifth of operating cash flow, which leaves a wide margin over the 109,7 million paid out in dividends7.
The qualification is the direction of travel. Cash generation is high because customers keep prepaying, and customers keep prepaying because they keep renewing. The number that governs it is not on the cash flow statement.
Text gives the more current version itself: payments received, reported quarterly in dollars because it is closer to real time than revenue. For the year they were 87,9 million dollars, down 0,7%8. That is the figure to watch, not the 161,6 million.
Operating cash flow fell from 179,5 million złoty to 161,6 million, and the contribution from movements in short-term liabilities turned negative. The conversion premium depends on a growing base, and the base is not growing.
The 39% gap is depreciation of 26,4m zł against capitalised development plus the movement in customer prepayments, and it is durable rather than a one-year artefact - 179,5m zł and 177,6m zł in the two preceding years. Capital spending of 32,4m zł leaves a wide margin over the 109,7m zł paid out. The mechanism works only while the base grows, so the more current measure is payments received: $87,9m for the year, down 0,7%.
