Nvidia (NVDA) — the future bets

Nation-states became a customer class — hundreds of thousands of GPUs sold to ministries, on terms diplomacy can rewrite either way.

The newest customer class in computing is the nation-state. The template deal is Saudi Arabia's HUMAIN, launched under the Public Investment Fund: AI factories of up to 500 megawatts, an initial 18,000 Blackwell GB300 systems, and 'several hundred thousand' Nvidia GPUs over five years1 — a commitment analysts size in the tens of billions2. Europe's five planned AI gigafactories and the Gulf's build-out follow the same logic: no government wants its intelligence infrastructure entirely rented from another country's clouds.

The line that holds sovereign customers grew 138% in a year, faster than hyperscale.

For Nvidia the strategic value exceeds the revenue: sovereign buyers diversify a data-center business dangerously concentrated in a handful of hyperscalers, and they pay list price without building rival chips on the side. The risk is that the same politics that created the market can close it — export rules made these deals possible in 2025 and could unmake them in any given year, in either direction. This is a bet on diplomacy compounding as reliably as technology. Watch the sovereign share of data-center revenue as it surfaces in disclosures, and watch each deal's delivery schedule against the export-license calendar; megawatts announced are politics, megawatts energized are revenue.

Moat trajectory: Widening

Widening with every ministry that signs: the HUMAIN template — hundreds of thousands of GPUs, gigawatt ambitions — is being copied across the Gulf and Europe, diversifying a hyperscaler-heavy customer base. The same politics that opened the market can close it, which is the asterisk on the arrow.

Nvidia reports sovereign demand inside ACIE, alongside AI natives and enterprises. Growth here faster than hyperscale revenue shows buyers other than the big four widening the base.
